NewCAJE15 San Diego California July 26 to 31

HOUSING & DINING

We’re looking forward to having you on campus with us!
Find out more about campus housing, nearby hotels, and food options for the conference below.

Visiting San Diego in July

Average temperatures in July are around 75 for the high, with a range of 70 to 82, and around 65 for the low, with a range of 60 to 70. It might be cloudy, but very unlikely to have rain, and very low humidity. Pack accordingly, and remember that indoor temperatures might be chilly.

Campus Housing

We encourage all attendees to stay on campus with us. We will be staying in the newly-renovated Cuicacalli Residence Hall, in either the Tepeyac or Tacuba wings. Suites consist of 6 or 7 rooms, with a mix of single and double rooms, two bathrooms, a lounge, and a kitchenette with fridge. See below for two example layouts.

Each room features, per person, an XL twin bed, a wardrobe with hanging space and drawers, a desk, and a chair. Linen packages <INCLUDE WHAT?>>

Each suite has air-conditioning and wifi. There are lounges on each floor as well. The building has laundry, and we also have access to an outdoor swimming pool and a volleyball court.

A double room is <<COST>> per person per night and a single room is <<COST>> per person per night.

All the residence halls have elevators, but please remember to indicate any mobility issues on the registration form, so we can house you appropriately.  We will spend much of our time at the Student Union or the Adams Humanities building, an easy, flat walk from the residence hall. We offer golf cart rides for those with mobility issues.

Nearby Hotels

If you wish to stay off-campus, there are not many hotels nearby campus. However, we have reserved a block of rooms at a hotel that is located on the Light Rail, which has a stop next to the Adams Humanities building and the Student Union, where many of the workshops will take place.

The cost of the hotels reflect the cost in San Diego during the summer.

Certified kosher meals are included in your registration fee. Starting with dinner on Sunday, through lunch on Wednesday, enjoy meals with your fellow participants. Meals are a great time to make new friends and reconnect with old ones.

Our Caterers

Because of the policy of the caterers to maintain kashrut status, no outside food is allowed into the dining hall.

Food Allergies

If you have food allergies, please let us know on your registration form. Our caterers are experienced with all types of food allergies, and can accommodate special needs if they know about them in advance. If your food needs change, please let us know as soon as possible.

Special Diets

As mentioned above, all food served at NewCAJE15 will be certified kosher. You can also indicate your need for vegetarian- or vegan-only food on your registration food. NewCAJE has a high percentage of vegetarians and vegans, and we have a lot of experience feeding them well, including lots of protein.

If you have any specific food concerns, please contact Jessica Melhado at info@newcaje.org.
