Shabbat at NewCAJE is unique in North American Jewish life. The essential element is the provision for alternative forms of observance. We celebrate pluralism and explore the profound issues of tolerance and respect for those who select differing observances from our own.
There will be multiple minyanim:
– A service with a mechitza
– Egalitarian services with and without instruments
– Alternative services like Yoga, Nature Walk, or Meditation
The whole community will come together for Shabbat meals and Havdalah. There will be opportunities to study with our Shabbat Scholars and to experience a Seudah Shelishit—the third meal of Shabbat. You are welcome to experiment with new forms of worship within Judaism or find your place in more familiar territory.
A day to breathe in deeply, to share meals with friends who share your life’s passion, to connect with the deep sense of mission and wonder that led us to be Jewish educators, to reconnect to G!d in a community–all that and more is Shabbat at NewCAJE. We welcome you to share it with us. Additionally, arriving before the conference formally begins on Sunday is a way to get to know a smaller group of people, to adjust to the time difference, and to participate in the Sunday intensives.
